(London, UK – 1:50 A.M.) President of the USA, Donald Trump, made some interesting comments in a recent interview with Fox News. He made these comments just a few days after the U.S. military fired 59 tomahawk cruise missiles at an airbase used by the Syrian Arab Air Force (SYAAF) in Homs province.
“We are not going into Syria, but when I see people using horrible, horrible chemical weapons, which they agreed not to use under the Obama administration, but they violated it… what I did should have been done by the Obama administration a long time before I did it… and I think Syria would be a lot better off,” President Trump told Fox News.
It seems that Trump still prioritises defeating ISIS over removing President Bashar Al-Assad and his government from power.
However, as he has demonstrated over the past week, he is able and willing to quickly alter his position, or at least seem to do so. Trump’s attack against the Shayrat airbase has had a negligible effect on the capabilities of pro-government forces in Syria; the airbase was operational shortly after the assault.
It seems that Trump was trying to send a message to a range of countries, including Syria and North Korea.
